Dry Winter Skin vs. Johnson’s Baby Oil

Johnson's Baby Creamy Oil

Drying my kids off after their baths, I sometimes feel a twinge of jealousy.  Their skin is so soft and smooth!  During the winter months especially, I fight a constant battle with my own dry, sometimes flaky skin.  In the past, I’ve thought of baby oil as something for babies, bodybuilders and tanners.  The new line of products from  Johnson’s Baby Oil is helping me see it in a new light – a powerful ally in my dry skin struggles.  The Shea and Cocoa Butter line includes Baby Oil, Baby Oil Gel and Baby Creamy Oil. Designed to help stop dryness and lock in moisture, the products have been dermatologist and allergy-tested, for use on even the most sensitive skin.

I’m not a fan of products that leave my skin feeling greasy, but find that the Baby Oil and Baby Oil Gel are a great way to seal in moisture after a shower. I prefer the gel, same results, less mess! For anytime use, the Creamy Baby Oil has been a wonderful surprise. I had my doubts about the non greasy claims on the bottle, but I was wrong. It is thick, rubs in easily and leaves my skin soft and noticeably smoother with no greasy feel. I’m a fan! My husband is very sensitive to scents and is not in love with the shea, so I’d love to see an unscented variety. For the record though, I think it smells good!

The First Post

I did it. After years of threats and unkept promises to myself, I finally moved to WordPress. I hope I managed to bring some of my readers with me. I think I’m going to love it. I already do. Why oh why did I wait so long?

Hope you like the new look – would love to hear what you think!

Wish You Could Go Back to School Too?

Thinking back to high school, I have a hard time feeling nostalgic.  I hated it and I was bored – enough so that I tested out after my sophomore year, got a job and enrolled in community college.  I figured I’d get an associates degree, transfer to a four year school and have a degree by the time I hit 20.  I took classes in various subjects, trying to answer the age old question: “What do I want to be when I grow up?”  I’m still unsure of the answer to that question.  Life took me in another direction, I got a decent job in the insurance industry and put college on the back burner for a while.

Ten years later, as a married, stay at home mom of three, finishing my degree isn’t an idea I’ve often entertained.  How could I possibly even think about it until the kids are in school?  Where would I find the time?

I know there are a lot of moms out there who would love to go back to school but figure it’s just not feasible.  Obstacles such as cost and scheduling might keep you from even looking into your options.   The last time I looked into online education, the offerings seemed so limited and most required that at least some time be spent on campus.  Mom Central recently provided me with some information about American Public University and it’s clear to me that this is no longer the case.

American Public University (APU) is different than traditional universities, in that they offer classes on a monthly basis instead of semesters.  Courses are 100% online, so you can earn your degree from anywhere in the world.  You can complete your course work during naptime, after bedtime, whatever works for your schedule.  With more than 100 degrees and certificate programs to choose from, there are no shortage of options in that department either.  Tuition is among the lowest in the country for accredited online universities, undergraduate classes cost $750 per 3 credit course.

If you’d like to hear from a mom who has been there and done that, you’ll want to check out the live chat tomorrow morning (8/26) at 12pm EST.  Jenn Deater, Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management, will be talking about her experience returning to school at APU

Don’t Miss the Summer of Swag!

You’ve joined Swagbucks, right?  Judging by the questions my friends and family have been asking me, there are a lot of people out there who have been missing out.  When you register for Swagbucks (it’s free!) you can start earning rewards for searching the web.  With every search, you have a chance to win Swagbucks.  You can also earn Swagbucks in a number of other ways, by finding Swag Codes, using the Swagbucks Toolbar, online shopping, daily polls, etc.

As those Swagbucks start adding them up, you can start cashing them in for rewards.  The Swag Store has something for everyone, from electronics to music downloads, makeup to a wide assortment gift cards!  My personal favorite is the $5 gift card to Amazon.com, which you can snag for 450 Swagbucks.

If you haven’t joined yet, this is a great time to do it.  You’ll get 30 swagbucks just for signing up, and another 20 bonus swagbucks with the code SUMMEROFSWAG. The bonus code is good for new accounts only and expires at midnight on 6/11, so join and take advantage of it now!
