I Finally Saw The Hunger Games…Kind Of

I’ve been dying to see The Hunger Games, but babysitting isn’t always easy to come by around these parts. Here’s hoping it stays in theaters for a really, really long time so that I don’t have to wait for the DVD. But really, who needs Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hensworth and Josh Hutcherson when you have Beanie Babies? Right?

Yes, this is how I spent 11+ minutes of naptime today. Don’t be jealous.

Sneak Peek at Frankenweenie (Coming to Theaters This Fall)

Frankenweenie Trailer
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of our family favorites, so naturally I was excited to see a new Disney/Tim Burton collaboration in the pipeline. Frankenweenie is coming to theaters this Fall, and this new trailer has just been released. It looks to me like it might be a little intense for younger viewers, but fun for older kids and adults.

What do you think?  Will this be on your Fall must-see list?

Beauty and the Beast 3D and Tangled Ever After Sneak Peek

Beauty and the Beast 3D Poster

Disney classic Beauty and the Beast is returning to theaters in 3D next week, can’t wait to see it!  There will also be a new short, Tangled Ever After, playing before the movie.  Tangled is one of our favorite recent Disney releases, my kids watch it at least twice a week. Maximus never fails to make them laugh and I have to say, Flynn is the best looking Disney prince ever. Am I wrong? Can’t wait to see the next chapter in Rapunzel’s story.

Here’s a sneak peek of the short:

What’s your favorite Disney movie?

The Devil Went Down to Georgia as Performed by Jack Black and Keith Urban

Jack Black Performs The Devil Went Down To Georgia

A few weeks ago I had a fun girl’s night out at the Keith Urban concert at Staples Center.  I liked him before the show, but left a much bigger fan.  The guy is so talented, amazing on the guitar and let’s be real – pretty easy on the eyes too.  One fun thing about living in LA is that you often get a surprise guest or two at a concert and this was a lucky night.  Keith was joined by John Fogerty for a great rendition of Proud Mary, but the biggest surprise came in the encore when Jack Black strode onto the stage to do vocals on The Devil Went Down to Georgia.  So fun and totally hilarious!   The photo above is the best I got out of my camera, but I was able to find a couple of videos.

This one has decent audio:

If you’d like a closer view of Jack Black’s antics, this one is good, but the audio quality is poor.

Reliving the Duranie Dream

I am a Duranie. I admit it. I still love 80′s music and I still absolutely love Duran Duran. Careless Memories is my all-time fav Double D song and John always got my heart pounding (and still does). I remember back in high school Richard Blade was going to premiere View To A Kill, their new song for the James Bond movie. I snuck my Walkman into English class and slyly kept one earphone on so I could hear it. I loved it. I loved them all.

Just a few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to see Duran Duran in concert, in support of their album All You Need Is Now (which I quite enjoy). I say fortunate because I was able to go with some of my long-time friends – a few of those friendships forged over 20 years time. Not only is Duran Duran still exciting and fun to watch but to have my high-school friend Mercy on one side of me, screaming as loudly as I was, and my other best-gal-pal Sarah on the other rockin’ to the beat was fabulous. I went wild.  I felt like I was 17 again that night, listening to John’s bass and Simon’s golden voice and not having one single care in the world.

I thank Simon, John, Nick, Roger and Dom for a wonderful night of music and I thank heaven I was able to share it with such great friends. The picture of Simon above might be blurry but that night will remain crystal clear in my memory.

P.S. I still can’t get over the sexiness of Simon’s beard. Niiiiice.
