If the answer be “aye”, ye be welcome to join our scurvy pirate crew. If not, I’m sure my kids would be happy to give you a lesson or two. In case you missed it, yesterday was Talk Like a Pirate Day. Every day might as well be Talk Like a Pirate Day in this house. My kids have been obsessed with Jake and the Never Land Pirates since it first aired on Disney Junior. With the release of the long awaited CD & DVD they’ll be able to watch it anytime, even if I forget to set the DVR.
What’s more fun than talking like a pirate? Having your own little pirate party where you can dress like a pirate, watch a few episodes of Jake and the Never Land Pirates and act like a pirate by stealing your sister’s pirate ship cookie when she’s not looking. That’s just what we did this weekend. Disney Junior has lots of ideas to help with planning a pirate party, from printable invitations to coloring pages, games, even snack ideas. You could put together a pirate party in no time.
If you’re a little insane like me, you could try your hands at making awesome pirate ship cookies. (See the tutorial from Sweet Sugarbelle here). It might take hours but it will be worth it. At least that’s what you’ll tell yourself when your beautiful plate of cookies is reduced to a pile of crumbs. At any rate, we found that it’s awfully fun to talk, act and dress like pirates.
The Jake & The Never Land Pirates CD was released today and is now available at Amazon.com and where ever music is sold. Jake & The Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away! will be released on DVD next Tuesday, September 27. It is now available for pre-order.
Disclosure: We received a pirate party pack to help us plan a day of pirate adventures. The thoughts, opinions and pirate swagger were provided by us and us alone.
